The Worth of a Challenge

If you give a child a fish, you feed him for a day.
If you teach a child to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.
But if you teach a child to learn, you feed him for a lifetime
and he doesn't have to just eat fish.

Workboxes and Lapbooks

Workbox and Lapbook Days
First Grade edition

Jacob did a bunch of lapbooks and then did one workbox with all of his language arts stuff

Lapbook 1: is rocks and minerals as part of his science unit

Here is the inside and it is essentially a bunch of smaller activities all collected to make a "book". I like it and so does Jacob because it is an enjoyable way to do all the same learning as a worksheet but with out the boring part of just filling in blanks and then once completed, you can pull it out over and over again to enjoy the little activities.

Lapbook 2:For Literature we are reading the book Chrysanthemum and doing the following lapbook that we found at homeschool share

Lapbook 3: we are just starting and it is about westward expansion

this is the text we are using and then below is the parts for our lapbook

Here is Jacob's one workbox, and it is his sing, spell read and write materials for step 6
