The Worth of a Challenge

If you give a child a fish, you feed him for a day.
If you teach a child to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.
But if you teach a child to learn, you feed him for a lifetime
and he doesn't have to just eat fish.

Friday Centers

So friday is here and I decided to just do some simple centers to get the work done so we can enjoy the nice weather we have with some outside time

First Grade Centers

Center 1: walking with sight words-read the word as you takes steps
*don't have fancy feet like mine?....just trace your hubby's or better yet trace your kids as a craft project with them

Center 2: Chick-n-Place-learning place value
I downloaded mine for free from filefolderfun

Center 3: Writing Center-Find the words to make the sentence and then write it. I highlight the words Jacob will be writing because we are still working on penmanship and this just take the frustration out of not being a neat writer.
*I bought this set from Lakeshore Learning but you can find other sentence builders at confessions of a homeschooler printables and then all you need to do is look under phonics and she has a sentence builder

Center 4: Domino Parking-add up the dots on the dominoes from both sides(addition skill/counting skills at work here) and then park it at the right place
I got this one for free from Mathwire.com

Preschool-PreK Centers

Center 1: counting it up - match the shapes with the numbers**

Center 2: Sizes!  this is another goody from file folder fun

Center 3: Colors! - Match the colors with the color words**

Center 4: Colors part 2 - match the color hippo/jellybean with the color word**

**the printables came from confessions of a homeschooler
